Joan Pohutsky, DNP, APRN

Joan Pohutsky, DNP, APRN, NP-BC is a board-certified nurse practitioner through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She graduated with honors from Rush University in Chicago, IL, earning her Doctor of Nursing Practice. Her practicums were completed in hematology/oncology and her residency in dermatology and primary care.

Joan earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Loyola University Chicago, graduating with honors. Her nursing residency was completed at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD where she worked in the surgical intensive care unit. She then began her graduate studies while simultaneously working in the surgical and cardiovascular thoracic intensive care unit at Rush University Medical Center, later transitioning to lead surgical nurse for the hospital’s Mohs surgeon. She practiced as a dermatology nurse practitioner at Rush University Medical Center before joining Anne Arundel Dermatology’s Rock Creek/Silver Spring practice.

Joan is active in the Dermatology Nurses Association as President of the Wisconsin/Illinois Chapter, a member of Sigma Theta Tau and Order of Omega honor societies, and member of the American Academy of Facial Esthetics where she has completed training in a variety of cosmetic procedures.

While Joan offers a variety of dermatologic services, she is most passionate about preventative health care and creating individualized care plans for her patients to make them look and feel their best. When not in clinic, she enjoys traveling, concerts, and hanging out with her foster dog fail turned rescue dog adoptee, Rusty.
