David H. McDaniel, M.D., F.A.A.D.

David H. McDaniel, M.D., F.A.A.D. is Board Certified by the American Board of Dermatology. He is a Co-Director of the Hampton University Skin of Color Research Institute, Adjunct Professor in the School of Science, Hampton University, as well as an Adjunct Assistant Professor, Department of Biological Sciences for Old Dominion University. In addition to his dermatology training, he has special training in physical chemistry, light physics, pathology and dermatopathology, botany and emergency medicine.

Dr. McDaniel directs McDaniel Laser & Cosmetic Center's cosmetic dermatology fellowship program which is one of about twenty American Society for Dermatologic Surgery programs in the country.

He is the author of over 75 scientific articles and book chapters, primarily concentrating in the field of laser cosmetic surgery, antioxidants, and anti-aging medicine. In March 2016, Dr. McDaniel was awarded a presidential citation from the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery for his “commitment to research and innovation to advance laser and energy based science, and for his years of commitment to teaching at ASLMS.”

He helped pioneer the science and theory of LED photomodulation and has been involved in the development and/or FDA clinical trials of some of today’s leading laser and energy based devices for cosmetic treatments or for non-surgical skin rejuvenation. He serves as Director of the McDaniel Institute of Anti-Aging Research as well as the Laser & Cosmetic Center in Virginia Beach, Virginia (USA) and consults for some of the major skin care and cosmetic companies in the world.

More recently Dr. McDaniel has been involved in the testing and also the development of several new antioxidant skin care products as well as research related to extending lifespan and healthy longevity.

Dr. McDaniel has been selected by his peers to be included in The Best Doctors in American for 2017-2018 for the 24th year in a row. He is one of the expert voices quoted in popular magazines such as O, Elle, Vogue, Allure, Essence, Time, Forbes, as well as by major media such as Good Morning America and the BBC. Dr. McDaniel also serves as president of a non-profit charity, The Center for Disfigurement.
